SOFTacademy brings elevators to Soviet-era apartment buildings

The new solution includes the construction of separate stairwells and elevator shafts, ensuring residents safe and convenient access to their floors. Although the construction work is extensive and costly, the goal is to make life in Mustamäe homes more modern and future-proof.

The project is being implemented through cooperation between residents and funding partners. The Estonian Business and Innovation Agency (EISA) supports the renovation of the buildings by 50%, while the installation of elevators is financed by the residents and with support from the SOFTacademy project.

This is an important step forward that demonstrates how collaboration and innovative solutions can make decades-old apartment buildings more accessible and comfortable for all generations.

Construction will begin in spring, and the new elevators are expected to be operational by August.
